Responsible for sourcing and purchasing health, beauty, personal care, and food products. Works closely with suppliers, marketing, and inventory teams to ensure product quality, availability, and compliance while supporting sales growth and effective in-store presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and evaluate suppliers
Negotiate prices and terms
Analyze market trends and adjust buying strategies
Manage stock levels and avoid overstock
Collaborate with marketing for promotions
Oversee product displays and store layouts
Ensure regulatory compliance
Review sales data and adjust product mix
Maintain supplier relationships
Coordinate deliveries and inventory
Prepare reports on procurement and stock
Travel occasionally, including overnight stays
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCERequired
✓Bachelor’s degree
✓3–5 years of experience as a buyer, preferably in retail, drugstore, or FMCG industries
✓Experience in supplier negotiation and relationship management
✓Understanding of the Malaysian market and consumer behavior
✓Strong analytical skills in forecasting and inventory control
✓Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
✓Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
✓Willing to travel occasionally, including overnight trips
✓High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
✓Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment
✓Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
✓Flexible and adaptable mindset
