The Operations Manager will oversee the performance of multiple retail stores across Malaysia, with a strong focus on operational excellence, team development, and sales growth. This role requires proactive leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on involvement in both daily operations and long-term planning. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with company SOPs and Malaysian labor laws, while acting as a key liaison between store teams and the head office. Frequent travel, including to remote locations such as Johor Bahru, is required.
Key Responsibilities:
・Lead and supervise multiple retail outlets to achieve sales targets and deliver excellent customer service.
・Monitor and analyze store performance (sales, costs, staffing, inventory) and implement improvement plans.
・Ensure full compliance with operational standards and local labor regulations.
・Conduct market and competitor analysis to drive innovation and boost customer engagement.
・Deliver training on product knowledge—especially Japanese products—and support merchandising and promotions.
・Conduct regular store visits, including outstation locations, to perform inspections, resolve issues, and support store managers.
・Collaborate with the head office on staffing, customer complaints, and other operational matters.
・Guide stores in enhancing product displays, promotional activities, and customer experience.
・Gather and assess customer feedback and market trends to refine business strategies.
・Oversee cost control initiatives and contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes.
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCERequired
✓Proficiency in English, Chinese, and Malay (Japanese language ability is a plus)
✓Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in retail operations management (experience in the drugstore or FMCG sectors is preferred)
✓Proven track record in managing multiple outlets or regions, with demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency and sales performance
✓Knowledge of Malaysian labor laws and experience in handling HR and compliance matters within a retail environment
✓Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including to remote areas such as Johor Bahru
✓Strong execution and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose practical, cost-effective improvement initiatives
✓Experience in product training, visual merchandising, and executing promotional activities
Preferred Qualifications
✓Work experience in Malaysia’s retail market, with a solid understanding of local consumer behavior
✓Strong skills in KPI tracking and performance data analysis
